Choosing a retirement community is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make. We know that you and your family members probably have many questions about life at The Peninsula Regent. We’ve tried to answer some of those questions, below. We hope we’ve addressed some of the questions you may have. But if not, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly for more information.

Q: How can I determine if a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), such as The Peninsula Regent, is right for me?”
A: No one’s needs are exactly the same. Many factors – including health concerns, income level, and geographic requirements - make each situation unique. However, people who choose CCRCs usually have some basic things in common:
  • Are in relatively good health and enjoy an active, healthy lifestyle
  • Wish to maintain their freedom, privacy and independence
  • Want to simplify their lives and free themselves of home maintenance responsibilities and daily chores
  • Enjoy a stimulating environment and opportunities for socializing
  • Desire the peace of mind of on-site health care
  • Want to maintain the financial and tax benefits of home ownership and protect equity
  • Don’t wish to burden family members with caretaking responsibilities
Q: I’m still relatively healthy and active. Why should I consider a CCRC now?
A: If you’re still living independently, you may think you’re not ready for a CCRC. However, the best time to move to a CCRC is while you are still healthy and active enough to enjoy the many benefits, and while you are healthy enough to qualify for this type of community. As a Peninsula Regent resident put it, “You should come here before you think you’re ready. You get younger here.”
Q: Is there a minimum or maximum age to become a member of The Peninsula Regent?
A: By law, the minimum age is 60. Participation in the voluntary Long Term Care insurance program is not an option for new members over 82.

Q: Does The Peninsula Regent offer Assisted Living? What about skilled nursing?
A: Yes, there is an Assisted Living wing on site with 20 private suites with private baths, as well as a lounge and dining room. The Assisted Living wing is monitored 24 hours a day by a licensed nurse and certified nursing aides who are supervised by the Director of Health Services. The Assisted Living staff provides care to individuals who require some assistance with the activities of daily living. This care may involve bathing, grooming, medication and nursing observation.
