The best way to learn about life at The Peninsula Regent is from the people who live there. We asked some of our members to tell us what it’s like to be a part of this unique and vital community.
“Moving to the Peninsula Regent was the smartest move I ever made. Why wouldn’t I want to live in a beautiful building, be served a great meal daily in an elegant dining room, and enjoy wonderful people, have weekly house cleaning provided with linen and towels, be covered with 24-hour medical staff and be driven to various cultural events? Come on, this if for real!”
Sarah Stolow, Member since 1988
“I looked everywhere and there was no better place than this!”
Gloria Goldberg, Member since 2006
“My husband and I moved here for the security. As my son told us, ‘This was the greatest gift you could have given your children.’ And it’s absolutely true. Now that we’re at The Peninsula Regent, they know they don’t have to worry about us we’re taken care of.”
“Bee” Meyer-Lann, Member since 1995
“I told myself that I was going to make this move an absolute adventure, a good one. I am at the point in my life where I want to be assured of the security of being cared for should I need it, but I want to enjoy my independence as well. Here, you’re taken care of every step of the way. I sleep better because the pressures of tending house and garden are gone. Now, I just look out my window and enjoy The Peninsula Regent’s award winning gardens. It has freed me to do the things I truly enjoy.”
Carlene Cheetham, Member since 2005
“The first thing I noticed was that people were smiling here. They just looked happy.”
Richard Louie, Member since 2004
“What impressed me when I first came here are the people.
We have a very interesting group of people with lots of talents.
Their talents enrich our lives.”
Virginia Gilmore, Member since 2002
“The people here are individuals, no matter what their
ages…there’s so much diversity and variety of interests.”
Dr. Jean Kohn, Member since 1989
“I visited several other places before moving to The Peninsula Regent…I saw some beautiful apartments at other retirement places, but the atmosphere was stuffy and pretentious. The Peninsula Regent isn’t like that. It’s elegant here, but very warm and friendly.”
Ida Braun, Member since 2003
“Moving from my home in Massachusetts was stressful. But the people here are so kind and open…they made me feel welcomed immediately.”
Bob Furlong, Member since 2005
“Living here is like being on a cruise or in a nice hotel. You can have as much privacy as you want. You create your own social life here and there are people from all kinds of backgrounds with different ideas and interests.”
Dr. Elizabeth Bing, Member since 1988
“The size of The Peninsula Regent is perfect…large enough to have a variety of people and interests, but small enough to be warm and personal. The number of people here is just right.”
Robert Asnard, Member since 1994
“I love having time to play golf, hike, and join friends for lunch without having to worry about household chores and maintenance. The staff is so friendly. They not only take care of my needs, but do so with a smile.”
Beverly Ryman, Member since 2001
“I admit I didn’t want to leave my house in San Francisco. It wasn’t an easy decision. But I liked The Peninsula Regent the moment I walked through the door. Move in here and you’ll never regret it.”
